Job Description

Bartender Position Summary:

The ideal Bartender candidate will have excellent social skills, be highly motivated and feel comfortable working in a demanding position that requires multi-tasking while making cocktails, taking orders, delivering food, cleaning, cashiering, receiving and stocking product. Candidates also should have sufficient experience and food/wine/liquor knowledge to hit the ground running. Bartenders interact with guests in a positive manner by assisting them promptly, and approaching them in a hospitable, friendly way. Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintains an awareness of food and product information, promotions, special offers and advertisements
  • Communicates guest requests to co-workers and/or management in a prompt, efficient manner
  • Order taking and input into the Point of Sale computer to inform the kitchen of the particulars of the order
  • Ascertain guest satisfaction throughout service
  • Cooperates and interacts with colleagues in a positive, respectful manner and with a team approach, offering to assist as needed in order to ensure customer service
  • Abide by all state, federal regulations and restaurant liquor policies pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages
  • Accurately and efficiently complete all sales transactions and maintain proper cash handling protocols
  • Reports to work on time and as assigned per the schedule on a regular, consistent basis
  • High School graduate or equivalent preferred
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • A valid California Food Handler Card is required
  • Prefer a minimum of one year of previous bartending experience
  • Ability to move or handle merchandise throughout the restaurant generally weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and carry food and beverage trays for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and guests in person and on the phone
  • Ability to write and count to accurately complete transactions and all required documentation
  • Ability to walk on uneven ground, including mats and steps, freely accessing all areas of the restaurant including the restaurant floor, stock/prep areas, and the kitchen
  • Ability to operate and use restaurant equipment and appliances necessary to the service of the guest
  • Estimates food consumption, places orders with suppliers and schedules delivery of merchandise, food products and beverages.
  • Assists in resolving customer complaints about food quality or service, but still gives Management the final authority.
  • Assists in monitoring actions of staff and customers to ensure that health, cleaning, safety standards, and liquor regulations are obeyed. Ensures that all building codes and city health department regulations are met, and that proper documentation is available upon request.
  • Checks quality of deliveries of merchandise, beverages and food.
  • Assists in overseeing the training of bar staff.
  • Helps assure all beverages meets high quality company standards before being served/delivered to customer.
